What Do Your Dreams Mean?

By Alicia Socorro

Some mornings you wake up and get on with your day without remembering or giving a second thought to your dreams. But other days you wake up feeling incredibly disturbed by your dreams and you remember them as if they were real.

Why do we dream? What do our dreams mean? Are our subconscious minds trying to tell us something that our conscious minds are trying to ignore? Well, the answer is never an easy one, considering no one but you knows your past nor what you’re thinking about.

But certain dreams can be interpreted in a way that may help you realize an underlying issue you may not want to face or may not have realized was bothering you until you were told in a dream.

Are you ready to interpret some of the most common dreams women have? Let’s find out what your dreams mean.

What dreams mean situation #1
Naked

You’re going about your dream wonderfully when, all of a sudden, you look down to discover that you are completely naked in front of all these people. This could mean a number of things, depending on where you stand in your everyday life.

You’re hiding something – You have a secret you are keeping from others that you don’t want to or are afraid to reveal.

You’re unprepared – There’s a presentation of sorts coming up and you don’t think you’re well-prepared for it.

You’re proud – If, in your dream, you take pride in being naked, it could symbolize that you feel you have an unrestricted freedom to do whatever it is you desire.

You’re overanalyzing – If you are naked and no one else in your dream notices, it may be because you are making a big deal out of a small situation in your real life.

What dreams mean situation #2
Teeth falling out
One of the most common dreams around, your teeth crumble or fall out of your mouth one by one until you’re left with nothing but gums.

You’re anxious about your appearance – It’s possible that you’re about to meet someone who has never seen you before and you’re unsure about how they will perceive you.

You’re afraid of making a fool of yourself – Sometimes such a dream indicates an underlying fear of making a fool of yourself in a public situation.

You feel powerless – Teeth are used to bite, chew and tear things apart; the loss of them may represent a lack of power in certain aspects of your life.

You’re lying – According to Chinese scripture, losing your teeth indicates that you are lying about something in your daily life.

You’re menopausal – Having all your teeth is attractive (well, at least in relation to not having them), and if you’re menopausal you may feel that you are losing your attractiveness or “femininity.”

What dreams mean situation #3
Being chased
In your dream, you’re running away from someone who seems to be getting closer and closer to you no matter how quickly you try to outrun them.

You’re avoiding issues – Instead of confronting the problems in your life, you are trying to outrun them, so to speak.

You’re dealing with inner conflict – The chaser may represent a part of yourself that you’re not happy with. For example, if you’re feeling jealous, angry or in love, such feelings can show themselves as a threatening figure in dreams.

You’re afraid of being assaulted – Sometimes your dream may be true to life and not just symbolic. For example, if you have to travel through a dark parking lot every night after work, your fear of being attacked might reveal itself via your dreams.

What dreams mean situation #4
Falling

You’re falling and falling and you can’t hold onto anything nor can you stop it. You’re afraid that, at some point, you’re going to hit the ground, but it just doesn’t happen (and despite popular opinion, you don’t die in real life if you hit the ground in your dream).

You’re feeling unstable – Such dreams indicate a feeling of instability or anxiety, and it’s quite possible that you’re not sure how to deal with your current situation.

You’ve failed – whether it’s an exam or a relationship, you feel like you’ve failed and don’t know how to cope with these feelings.

You’re losing your pride – Whether it’s doing something you’re not too proud of or you’re inability to keep up with the Joneses, your pride is taking a hit.

Find out what your dreams mean

Dreams help us manage our thoughts and feelings, and may even give us a sign of things to come. Then again, they may just take place due to occurrences of the day (e.g. you run into a high school friend, then dream that you’re at the prom).

But it’s true that we dream for a reason; the only problem is that it’s left up to us to figure out what that reason is.

Land That Dream Job – 7 Tips

By Jennifer Towers

When we were young, we all imagined that we’d land that dream job of being a veterinarian, actor, dancer, or astronaut. Now that we’re older, chances are we’ve settled into a comfortable job that doesn’t necessarily make us feel fulfilled.

But why shouldn’t we strive to land that dream job? After all, we spend 1/3 of our lives at work, so wouldn’t it make sense to land that dream job that we actually enjoy heading to every morning?

Well, you can land that dream job if you set your mind to it. And with a little perspective, a lot of research and a boatload of dedication, you can land that dream job before you wake up one day to find that it’s too late.

Land that dream job tip #1
Write down what you want
Most people never take the time to think about their dream job. They either take the safe route or he appropriate one. But if you could be anything in this world, what would it be? What is your dream job?

Write down the things that make you happy. I’m not talking about rainbows and color red, but rather tasks that you don’t find daunting, but actually pleasurable. If you enjoy spending time with dogs, maybe you’re destined to work in an environment with animals. If you love being social, maybe public relations is your calling.

If you want to land your dream job, the first step is to figure out exactly what it is first.

Land that dream job tip #2
Shadow the job

Once you establish what it is you’d like to do for the rest of your life, you need to take the necessary steps to see what it’s really all about. After all, rocket science sounds incredibly interesting, but not everyone is cut out for it.

So if you’re ready to follow your calling, don’t be abrupt about it. Take some time off from your current job and shadow the job you’re yearning for. If you’re not currently working, sign up for an internship.

Sometimes the idea of something seems a lot more attractive than the reality of it, so before you dive in, make sure you’ve made the right choice by doing your research.

Land that dream job tip #3
Find someone in the profession

Someone who’s currently working at the job you desire can be very helpful in filling you in on information you need, and perhaps bringing up issues and drawbacks that you may not have thought about.

Find out how they started and how long it took them to end up where you want to be. You may discover that the path to landing that dream job is easier or more difficult than you imagined.

Land that dream job tip #4
Ask hard-hitting questions
Although it would be great to hear about all the wonderful arenas of your dream job, reality proves that there are drawbacks to everything we do, so you need to make sure that you find out everything about the job – from the cream to the crust.

Find out what it takes to get into the position, if there are any required courses you should take to better acquaint yourself with the profession and whether there are any other contacts that can help you reach your goal.

Land that dream job tip #5
Update your skills

Even if you have the right degree to enter into this new workplace, it’s always best to build a fantastic resume. And no, you don’t do that by fudging your qualifications – you actually have them.

Whether you volunteer as an intern or improve your education, today’s sacrifices will only make you a shoe in for your dream job.

Land that dream job tip #6
Tap into your social networks

The best way to land your dream job is by networking as much as you can. Discreetly mention your aspirations to those you think might be able to help you and start open doors in the direction you want to head.

Talk to friends, business associates, family; anyone that might be able to open doors and help you land that dream job.

Land that dream job tip #7
Go online to land that dream job

The Internet is a wonderful tool when it comes to finding the information you’re looking for. Whether you’ve already found the company you want or are planning on moving to get to it, the best way to do your research is online.

Websites, like CraigsList.org, can help you locate the job you’re looking for and in the exact city you want.

Never too late to land that dream job

If you’re willing to dedicate yourself to landing that dream job, nothing will stand in your way. That’s not to say it’s going to be an easy task; it will test your patience and be a daunting task, but once you end up exactly where you want to be, you’ll thank yourself for putting all that blood, sweat and tears into it.

Hillary Clinton Vital Stats

Birth Name: Hillary Diane Rodham
Birth Date: October 26, 1947
Birth Place: Chicago, Illinois
Romantic Link: Bill Clinton
Claim To Fame: First lady of the United States 1993-2001

Hillary Clinton Interesting Facts

In 1984, Hillary Clinton was chosen as Arkansas’ Woman of the Year.

Hillary Clinton is the first First Lady to seek and win a political office.

Hillary Clinton Biography

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 26, 1947, Hillary Diane Rodham was raised by her father, Hugh Ellsworth Rodham, and her mother, Dorothy Emma Howell Rodham, along with her two younger brothers Hugh Jr. and Tony.

Growing up, Hillary knew that she wanted to get involved in a life of politics, as she made sure to be very involved in her community by attending church and becoming the school president when she attended Main East High School.

Hillary supports republicans

By 1963, Hillary was already involved in politics, when she became an avid supporter of a presidential bid made by Arizona Republican Senator Barry Goldwater.

Having also earned many accolades as a Brownie and a Girl Scout, when Hillary switched to and graduated from Main South High School in 1964, she received the school’s first-ever social sciences award.

When Hillary entered Wellesley College in Massachusetts in 1965, she became increasingly involved in politics, even in her school as she served as the President of the College Republicans.

In 1968, amid her junior year in college, Hillary was quite taken aback when she heard of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., whom she had met in 1962. It was during this year that one of Hillary’s professors encouraged her to head to Wellesley in Washington, and it was during this time that Hillary’s political views began to change and she became a Democrat.

Rodham marries Bill Clinton

To no one’s surprise, Hillary was selected as the class of 1969’s valedictorian and became the first student ever at Wellesley to deliver a commencement address when she spoke at her graduation. Not only did her words inspire everyone to stand up and applaud their hearts out; Hillary was even featured in Life magazine for what she did.

That same year, Hillary enrolled at Yale Law School, and spent all her free-time helping children via the Yale-New Haven Hospital, Children’s Defense Fund, the Yale Child Study Center, and provided free legal services to the poor.

After receiving a Juris Doctor degree in 1973, Hillary began her post-graduate studies and served as a staff lawyer for the Children’s Defense Fund. It was during this time that Hillary became a member of the faculty at the University of Arkansas Law School in Fayetteville. It was here that she met and eventually married William Jefferson Clinton, a.k.a., Bill Clinton on October 11, 1975.

Hillary is Arkansas First Lady

By 1976, Hillary joined the Rose Law Firm, and dealt with cases of intellectual property while doing pro bono cases for children on the side.

It was in 1978 that Hillary’s husband became the governor of Arkansas, making Hillary Arkansas First Lady – a role she would fill for the next 12 years. When 1979 rolled around, she became a full partner in the law firm.

On February 27, 1980, Hillary and Bill welcomed little Chelsea, their first and only daughter, into the world. But Hillary wasn’t one to rest on her laurels; as the First Lady, Hillary sat on the Arkansas Educational Standards Committee, as well as the Rural Health Advisory Committee, all in a bid to help children get better educated and help parents better teach their children.

Not only was Hillary named Arkansas Woman of the Year in 1983, and Mother of the Year in 1984, she also sat on the Board of Directors for TCBY and Wal-Mart from 1985 to 1992.

Hillary becomes First Lady of U.S.

But Hillary’s notoriety would no longer be limited to Arkansas once her husband became the President of the United States in 1992. By 1993, Hillary was selected to take on Health Care Reform.

While she had her share of critics, Hillary gained a lot of respect for her support of women’s rights and her continuing commitment to children’s issues. In 1996, she wrote a book entitled It Takes A Village: And Other Lessons Children Teach Us, which was a best-seller and garnered her a Grammy award for Best Spoken Word Album for her recording of it.

In 1998, Hillary’s life would be rocked by scandal when her husband was caught having an affair with an intern named Monica Lewinsky. Of course, there were many accusations made about Bill during their entire marriage, but this time, there was actual proof of it.

Hillary becomes NY senator

Nevertheless, Hillary and Bill showed the world a united front and worked their way through the issue. And while some admired her determination to make the marriage work, others called her an enabler of her husband’s flagrant disregard for monogamy.

In 2000, after her stint as the First Lady came to a close, Hillary decided to run for the New York State senate, and was elected by a 12% margin over her opponent Rick Lazio on November 7th of that year.

Having made many bids for improvement in New York State, Hillary continues to press for labor and education improvements, as well as financial incentives for business and job creations.

Hillary 2008 President

Hillary wrote her autobiography Living History in 2003, and sold more than a million copies of the book in its first month of sale. Although she was criticized for not having credited her ghostwriters, the book was ultimately translated into several foreign languages and garnered much praise.

In November 2004, Hillary announced that she would be running for the Senate again on November 7, 2006, and came away the victor once again.

Perhaps the most admirable thing about Hillary is that she is running for President of the United States in 2008, and, should she win, she will become the first woman ever to be nominated for President by a major party. Not to mention the first woman to ever be First Lady and President. That's making history, baby!

Top 10 Fattening Foods In Disguise

By Tara Fraser

You try your best to eat right and live right every day. You go to the gym and perform your cardio exercise, you lift weights, you even play sports on the weekends. As for your diet, you make sure to eat right, get the right amount of calories and avoid fattening foods.

But are you really avoid fattening foods? More often than not, I meet women who think that their food choices are smart when, in fact, they’re actually hindering their efforts by eating fattening foods that are disguised as “healthy.”

What are these fattening foods? Well, I’m glad you asked.

Fattening foods #10
Juice

You might think that drinking orange juice in the morning is the smart way to go, but unless it has absolutely no added sugar, you’re actually doing more harm than good to your body.

Most juices contain loads of sugar and should be avoided at all costs. The only way to ensure that the juice you’re drinking is actually good for you, read the labels diligently or get yourself a juicer and make your own.

Fattening foods #9
Rice cakes

Although they are low in calories, rice cakes cause a spike in your blood sugar and could end up storing unwanted fat by slowing down your body’s ability to burn fat.

As well, most women don’t eat plain rice cakes, opting instead for flavored ones that are, in turn, very high in sodium. Your best bet would be to steer clear of rice cakes altogether and opt for something healthier like a raw fruit or vegetable.

Fattening foods #8
Flavored oatmeal
While oatmeal is incredibly good for the body as it helps lower LDL (bad) cholesterol in the body, the flavored variety is packed with sugar and would end up hindering any of the beneficial value oatmeal has.

Your best bet would be to buy the original variety, add some Splenda, cinnamon, walnuts and raisins to it yourself, and enjoy. This way, you can ensure that it doesn’t contain any extra additives without sacrificing flavor.

Fattening foods #7
Muffins

Although the term low-fat muffin doesn’t sound so bad, the fact of the matter is that in order to make up for the lack of fat, a whole lot of sugar is added to the mix in order for the muffin to keep its yummy flavor.

If that weren’t bad enough, muffins are rarely as small as they used to be. The amount of calories these gargantuan muffins contain nowadays equate a meal (400 calories). You can either keep up your muffin purchases and spread out your consumption (eat half for two mornings), or give up your muffins and opt for some whole-grain toast with sugar free jam instead.

Fattening foods #6
Diet sodas
Scientists have found a link between diet sodas and obesity. That is not to say that diet sodas cause obesity, mind you, but it is widely believed that diet sodas inhibit the hormone leptin, which regulates appetite and metabolism.

So when you enjoy your burger, fries and diet cola, you’re not doing yourself any favors. And no, regular soda is no better considering one can contains 7 teaspoons of sugar. Your best bet? Regular old water.

Fattening foods #5
Breaded shellfish, fish or chicken

Most breaded foods generally contain a boatload of fat. Add to that the fat that breaded foods are typically deep-fried and you’re basically screwed in the calorie department.

Rather than ingest breaded foods, opt to have them grilled instead. Grilled chicken and fish taste fantastic and will maintain their moisture. If you absolutely need to have breaded food, however, don’t fry it; broil it instead.

Fattening foods #4
Cereal bars
While it’s possible to find cereal bars that are healthy and full of nutrients, more than half of all cereal bars found on supermarket shelves are high in sugar and saturated fat.

Although they’re great when you’re on the go in the morning, they won’t be as great when all the calories begin to show themselves on your butt and hips. Be more vigilant about reading the labels and pay close attention to the saturated fat and sugar content.

Fattening foods #3
Granola
While granola was touted as a diet food in the late ‘70s, most of us now know how calorie-laden it really is. A ¾ cup serving contains about 350 calories and 12 grams of fat. That’s crazy!

Rather than ordinary granola, there are new low-fat, low-sugar varieties available, so snack on that.

Fattening foods #2
Deli meats
Cold cuts are not only full of sodium and fat (and sometimes even sugar), they also contain nitrites, and while their objective is to help prevent botulism, they are also associated with cancer of the oral cavity, urinary bladder, esophagus, stomach, and/or brain.

I know that deli meats are convenient and easy, but they can do more harm than good to your body. You can keep having your deli meats in moderation and opt for better options like chicken and turkey breasts. Or you can always buy a cooked chicken and take it apart to make healthier sandwiches and salads.

Fattening foods #1
Frozen yogurt
Add the word “yogurt” to anything and suddenly everyone thinks it’s healthy. Unfortunately, that is rarely the case. Even the low- or non-fat varieties use loads of sugar to make up for the decrease in fat, so if you eat too much, the calories consumed will be stored as fat.

Keep your frozen yogurt intake to a minimum and, again, pay close attention to the ingredients list.

Recognize those fattening foods

It is up to you to be aware of what goes into your body, and by paying attention to labels and understanding that low-fat does not necessarily mean “this doesn’t count,” you can keep your waist line intact and feel good about what you ingest.
