Justin Timberlake's The Phone on MTV

Justin Timberlake is executive producing a new show on MTV called The Phone and, although I still have no clue what it's about, from the trailer, it looks like it's going to be one hell of a ride.

As we all know by now, everything Justin Timberlake touches turns to gold (save The Love Guru), so there's a good chance that he will be one-upping his old pal Ashton Kutcher and will take the cake as the reality TV king.

So if you're interested in seeing explosions and lots of people yelling and screaming in fear, then perhaps Justin Timberlake's The Phone is just what the doctor ordered. It's set to air on April 21, 2009 at 10 p.m.

50 Cent's The Money and The Power on MTV

Looks like even 50 Cent has jumped on the reality show bandwagon and wants to cash in. Go, go, go...

50 Cent plans to do a reality show called The Money and The Power on MTV starting November 6, 2008, and the show is essentially like The Apprentice, except that, instead of "You're Fired," 50 Cent will tell those dismissed to "Get the f*ck outta here."

It looks like it could be interesting as 50 Cent pits books smarts against street smarts. Unfotunately, it seems like all 14 contestants are about ready to go gangsta on each other. Waving their fingers in the air and talking like they're trying out for an ebonics competition.

My favorite part of the trailer is when he tells one girl that she's a "poor man's Lil' Kim." I mean, come on, Lil' Kim is a poor man's Lil' Kim.

MTV TRL Canceled

It was inevitable considering MTV has had a problem with music videos for about 10 years now, and so MTV is canceling TRL; the one show that actually aired videos for the last 10 years.

It seems that MTV is repulsed by actual music and would much rather air more important things like The Hills and The Real World. Unfortunately, the network's name (Music Television) has become quite the misnomer, especially now that MTV is canceling TRL.

So the last episode of TRL will air in November 2008 with a 2-hour goodbye show. Of course, don't expect to see Mariah Carey walk in out of nowhere and have a bizarre meltdown like she did in 2001. Aw, good times.
